This is the second highest rated task for mental health counselors. [2] The PPS School Counseling credential is a state educator credential, not a license; it is the Commission&#8217;s authorization to serve as a school counselor in California&#8217;s public schools. [3]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"color:#4f6a24;font-size:0.8rem;letter-spacing:0.12em\"><strong>What it takes to enter<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A bachelor&#8217;s degree first, then a qualifying graduate degree that matches the route. For the LPCC, a master&#8217;s or doctoral degree that is counseling or psychotherapy in content, a single integrated program of no fewer than 60 graduate semester units. [2] For the LMFT, a master&#8217;s or doctoral degree in marriage and family therapy or a listed related field, no fewer than 60 semester units. [2] For the LCSW, a master&#8217;s degree from an accredited school of social work, and the applicant must be at least 21.
