ABOUT

Why Sembrando Flores exists

Many communities across the country are medically underserved. Families drive hours for specialty care. Clinics operate with skeleton staffing. In many of these communities, families have no background in healthcare, and people may not even know the wide range of careers available beyond doctors and nurses. Young people who want to enter the health professions often have no local role models and no clear path forward.

Sembrando Flores was founded to change that. The name means “planting flowers,” and the mission is to plant seeds of possibility in students who already belong to these communities, then walk beside them as they grow into the health professionals their neighbors need.
