A four-year mentorship pipeline
Sembrando Flores walks with students from freshman year through senior year, building skills and confidence at every stage. Each year layers new experiences so graduates leave high school ready for college, health careers, and leadership in their communities.
YEAR 1
Freshman: Discover
Bloom’s: Remember and UnderstandStudents explore the landscape of health professions through career panels, guest speakers, and introductory workshops. They begin building vocabulary around healthcare systems, community health, and professional pathways.
Each student receives:
Program portfolio, mentorship pairing, career exploration toolkit, and more
YEAR 2
Sophomore: Explore
Bloom’s: Apply and AnalyzeStudents shadow real clinicians in community health settings, apply what they have learned in simulated scenarios, and begin analyzing the social determinants of health in their own neighborhoods.
Each student receives:
Clinical shadowing hours, Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, HIPAA and infection control courses, health literacy workshops, and more
YEAR 3
Junior: Apply
Bloom’s: Analyze and EvaluateStudents lead a community health project from conception through execution. They conduct needs assessments, coordinate with local partners, and present findings to community, building real leadership experience.
Each student receives:
Project leadership opportunity, college prep workshops, professional reference letters, and more
YEAR 4
Senior: Lead
Bloom’s: Evaluate and CreateSeniors become peer mentors, guiding the next cohort of freshmen while completing their own capstone project. They finalize college applications with personalized support and graduate ready to lead.
Each student receives:
Peer mentoring role, capstone presentation, FAFSA and college application support, alumni network access, and more
