FOR FAMILIES
What your family should know
Sembrando Flores is completely free for students and families. We partner with your student for all four years of high school, building skills, confidence, and a clear path toward a health career. Here is what each year looks like from a family perspective.
● Freshman Year: What to expect
Your student will attend monthly sessions exploring health careers through guest speakers, career panels, and hands-on activities. Time commitment is about 2 to 4 hours per month. No prior experience needed.
● Sophomore Year: What to expect
Students begin clinical shadowing with real healthcare professionals in community health settings. They earn CPR certification and explore social determinants of health in their own communities.
● Junior Year: What to expect
Your student leads a community health project, gaining real leadership and project management skills. College prep workshops begin, including personal statement writing and application strategy.
● Senior Year: What to expect
Seniors mentor younger students, complete a capstone project, and receive intensive FAFSA and college application support. They graduate with a professional portfolio and alumni network access.
FAFSA and college support
Starting junior year, families receive bilingual guidance on FAFSA, financial aid, and college applications. Our goal is to make sure no student misses an opportunity because the paperwork felt overwhelming.
